What is LENZING™ ECOVERO™?

Lenzing™ Ecovero™ viscose is less polluting than regular viscose. The production process starts in the forest where wood chips are collected before being transformed into wood pulp using renewable energy that emits 50% less CO2. The pulp is then processed to obtain fibers using water and organic solvents, as well as ecological dyes.

Yet we hear so much information about wood, water and their environmental impact that we are never quite sure whether they are sustainable resources or not.

LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose is eco-friendly as its fibers come from sustainably managed forests that are certified renewable by the European Eco Label. As for water, it requires half the quantity we use to manufacture t-shirts made out of generic viscose since it demands 12.5 liters, instead of 25 liters.

The cherry on the cake: it decomposes much more quickly. Although it is quite clear that you don’t throw away your clothes in nature – at least we hope you don’t – decomposition is a significant indicator to evaluate the sustainability of our clothes. Now whereas LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose decomposes in only 3 months, polyester, a fabric that is everywhere in our wardrobe, takes 200 years to disappear. The fact that Eco Vero viscose is biodegradable helps create a virtuous circle and promote reusable materials.
