Our Story

The meaning of the company’s name “La Cotonnerie” is in French, “the Cotton Mill”, which represents what we want to offer our customers: natural fabrics made mainly of cotton. We provide customers with modern and high-quality fabrics as well as ethnic textiles, 100% hand-made by artisans from around the world.

Not only are we passionate about textiles, we also care about the production process behind them. We also want to encourage upcycling, this is why we also sell secondhand textiles such as Baoulé cloth from Burkina Faso.

We are proud to support artisans as well as small businesses and designers working in the textile industry.

Meet the Founder

"Hey there! Originally from France, I set up the La Cotonnerie e-shop in Dubai back in February 2020. I've bounced around Europe and Africa, soaking up different vibes.

Passionate about sewing, handcraft, and cross-culture, I created this blog where you'll discover interviews with sewistas, histories of textiles, and creative sewing ideas."
